The application for Summer College 2012 is available through Slideroom.

*Due to a high number of requests, the application deadline has been extended until noon on June 1 to accomodate the submission of applications and materials.

General Application Information

Summer College admits students on a rolling basis from January through May.  Earlier submission is recommended as programs do fill before the deadline.  The $55 application fee is a onetime fee (even when applying for multiple programs) that is nonrefundable, nontransferrable, and not applied against the cost of the program fees.

NOTE: The application fee is waived for students applying through the NYC or SCSD Scholarship programs.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE APPLICATION PROCESS:

  • The Summer College online application is hosted in association with Syracuse University’s College of Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) portfolio submission portal.
  • Applicants will therefore be directed through a portal that references VPA undergraduate and graduate programs upon beginning the application process.
  • After you establish your account, you will be required to click on the link in a confirmation e-mail sent to you by SlideRoom.
  • Once you login, click on “Start a New Submission.”
  • On the left, and under “Category,” select “Summer College for High School.”
  • Select the Summer College Application for your desired program of study and continue through the application steps.
  • Go to our online portal at: http://suvpa.slideroom.com to begin your application.

Admissions Criteria
The Summer College application procedure asks students to complete the application through Slideroom and supply:

1. A high school transcript supplemented with a copy of the most recent report card.
2. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, principal, or head-of-school.

Applicants for Acting and Musical Theater are required to submit an audition.  Design and Studio Art applicants submit a portfolio of recent work.

Application Deadlines

  • The deadline for international applications is April 15, 2012.
  • The deadline for financial aid applications is April 15, 2012.
  • The deadline for completed applications is June 1, 2012.
  • NOTE: NYC & SCSD scholarship applications have earlier deadlines. Refer to your respective applications for details.

Earlier applications are strongly encouraged as most programs have limited enrollment. Applicants requesting Financial Aid are also encouraged to apply early as the limited amount of aid is often exhausted prior to the deadline.  All applications are processed in the order they are received. Applications received after May 15 will be considered for programs yet to reach enrollment capacity.

International Students

All international students are required to complete the associated section of the online application.   Applicants from countries where English is not the native language are required to provide evidence of English proficiency. This may include: TOEFL scores, IELTS scores, or a phone/video interview with the director of the program. International applicants are not eligible for financial aid.  The deadline for international applications has been extended to April 15, 2012. Students looking to develop their English skills should also check out our new College Seminar course.
