Application Procedures
6-week, Credit Courses
You and your parents or guardians need to fill out the application form completely, as well as relevant sections of the High School Evaluation forms. These materials plus an essay, together with a $50 non-refundable application fee payable to Syracuse University Summer College, must be taken to your secondary school officials who will complete confidentially and send to us by the deadlines given below.
Be sure to provide school officials with the envelope and notify them of deadlines. It is your responsibility to see that school officials submit materials by the deadline. The application fee is deducted from the total program cost. Scholarship applicants must meet additional requirements listed in the Financial Aid section below.
Only completed applications are considered. A complete application consists of an Application Form, High School Evaluation Form (Teacher), High School Evaluation Form (Principal/Counselor). high school transcript including year of study and the student essay plus the $50 non-refundable application fee. We recommend that you submit your application materials well before the application deadline, as popular programs fill up quickly.
2-week, Art Studio Programs
You and your parents or guardians need to fill out the application form completely, as well as relevant sections of the Teacher Recomendation form. These materials. together with a $50 non-refundable application fee payable to Syracuse University Summer College, must be taken to your teacher who will complete confidentially and send to us by the deadlines given below.
Be sure to provide school officials with the envelope and notify them of deadlines. It is your responsibility to see that school officials submit materials by the deadline. The application fee is deducted from the total program cost.
Only completed applications are considered. A complete application consists of an Application Form, Teacher Recommendation form and a $50 non-refundable application fee and one of the following, depending on which program you are applying for.
* Art Studio students must provide a portfolio of five to 10 photographs or slides of recent work. All samples must be labeled with the applicant's name and the date the work was completed. Applicants must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope large enough to return the portfolio.
We recommend that you submit your application materials well before the application deadline, as popular programs fill up quickly.
Please print out proper forms, fill in your information, and mail all application materials to Syracuse University Summer College for High School Students, 700 University Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13244-2530.
Deadlines
Credit, 6-week programs:
- The postmark deadline for completed applications is June 1, 2008.
- Earlier applications are strongly encouraged because most programs have limited enrollment. All applications are processed in the order they are received.
- Late applications may be accepted for programs not filled.
- The postmark deadline for scholarship applications is April 15, 2008.
- Late applications may be considered for enrollment but not for scholarship.
Studio Art:
The postmark deadline for complete applications is June 1, 2008. Earlier applications are strongly encouraged because programs have limited enrollment and may close. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received.
Financial Aid
A limited number of partial tuition scholarships are available for students enrolled in six-week credit bearing courses ONLY. All scholarships are awarded based on financial need.
Financial Aid Application Procedures
- Complete the financial aid section
- Completed financial aid applications (including school evaluations) must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2008.
Payment Methods and Deadlines
- Applicants must pay in full on or before June 20, 2008 to secure a place in the program.
- You may guarantee your admittance into the program of your choice by submitting a $1,500 deposit
- within 3 weeks of receipt of your letter of acceptance, and a maximum of two additional payments for the remaining balance.
- This deposit is refundable until 5 p.m. on Friday May 23, 2008.
- Payment must be made in U.S. currency by check, money order, MasterCard, or Visa. Applicants who plan to pay with MasterCard or Visa must complete the appropriate information on the application.
- Applicants who plan to pay by check should allow time for check clearance.
- All payments must be sent to Syracuse University, Summer College Program, 700 University Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13244-2530.
