art student and teacherThe Studio Art programs are specifically designed to inspire and challenge students to develop artistic skills under the guidance of university instructors and professional artists.

Faculty from Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts will instruct students in Experimental Art Processes, Painting and Figure Drawing. Students will work also alongside peers of like mind and talent, working hands-on with art tools and materials. They will expand their ability to experience and state their world in visual terms.

Experimental Art is a drawing based approach to conceptual thinking. Mixed and traditional media are used to analyze problems of space, movement, and concept development. The emphasis is less on observational reportage and more on the dynamics of problem solving.

As part of the Studio Art experience, instructors will work with students
on portfolio preparation, helping to select works that best
display student ability and interest when applying for college.

Much of the supplies are provided and students will have additional access to studio facilities for 'open studio’ practice in the evenings.
